Tesla, Sothebys And Other Highlights From The Ira Sohn Conference
Below are some notable highlights from the Ira Sohn Conference that took place in London, England.
- Michael Messara's Caledonia is long Zillow Inc (NYSE: Z), noting shares could be valued at $50 billion, or $770 per share given the company's 72 percent share of mobile viewing and 4 percent of ad spend being a “game changer.”
- Marc Chatin's Parus Finance is long Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ: TSLA) given its similar business model to Porsche, or being the "Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) of the auto industry." Chatin is short Transocean LTD (NYSE: RIG), noting 40 percent of its revenue stem from old fleet which may need to be scrapped.
- Jim Chanos' Kynikos is short Sothebys (NYSE: BID) given his view that art as an asset class has yielded inferior returns, lagging the S&P 500 by 162 basis points annually over 50 years.
- Carson Block's Muddy Watters is short Hong Kong listed Superb Summit International Group as his research may indicate that most of the firm's revenue coming from a coal trading subsidiarity that Superb doesn't own and that a recently acquired coal liquefaction business is fake.
