Sony Continues Decline Amid Hacker Demands
Sony Corp (ADR) (NYSE: SNE) shares continued to tick lower into the close Monday as the Wall Street Journal reported that the “hacking group calling itself Guardians of Peace continued its public attack on Sony Pictures Entertainment.”
The hacking group claimed “it had released more internal data” and demanded “that the studio stop the upcoming release of its comedy ‘The Interview.’”
The report cited the hacking group’s online request: “Stop immediately showing the movie of terrorism which can break the regional peace and cause the War!”
“The Interview” is a Seth Rogen and James Franco comedy about a plot to kill North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un.
Previous reports indicated that the attack on Sony had originated from North Korea.
Sony closed at $21.45, down 4.56 percent.
