Retail Analyst On Abercrombie & Fitch CEO Departure: Former Guess CEO And Former Abercrombie COO Might Make Good Replacements
Speaking to Benzinga, Talented Blonde President and Retail Analyst Kristin Bentz offered a couple examples of retail industry veterans who might be good to replace departing Abercrombie & Fitch Co. (NYSE: ANF) CEO Michael Jeffries.
The first name she mentioned was former Guess?, Inc. (NYSE: GES) CEO Carlos Alberini. He now serves as a director for Restoration Hardware Holdings (NYSE: RH) and was previously the CEO.
She explained that Alberini understands the consumer that Abercrombie is marketing to.
“He’s a brilliant merchant and a smart guy,” she said. “He could come in, and the stock would go bananas.”
Another name Bentz said might work for Abercrombie is former Pacific Sunwear of California, Inc. (NASDAQ: PSUN) CEO Seth Johnson. He’s also a former CFO and COO of Abercrombie, as well as a member of the board for bebe stores, inc. (NASDAQ: BEBE).
“He totally gets it. He understands the pre- and post-Abercrombie,” she said.
