Twitter Acquires ZipDial As Part Of Plan To Bring Twitter To Every Indian Mobile Device User
Twitter Inc (NYSE: TWTR) on Tuesday announced it has entered in to an agreement to acquire India-based startup ZipDial.
Twitter stated in a blog post that the acquisition will make Twitter more accessible to people in India and around the world.
“Our primary mission, bolstered by this acquisition, is to help every Indian with a mobile device get a great, relevant Twitter experience,” Twitter's Rishi Jaitly, Market Director of India and Southeast Asia said in a blog post.
ZipDial has previously worked closely with Twitter over the years. Most recently, during India's 2014 elections, the two national political parties both worked with Twitter and ZipDial to make their Twitter accounts accessible to all users in India, making Twitter the ultimate “mobile microphone.”
