Gupta's tweet included a link to an article he had written on Everydayhealth.com. The doctor detailed a trial at the Mayo Clinic that that uses stem cells harvested from a patient's own body fat that are grown in a dish then injected into the spinal fluid.
The trial is still in the first phase, but there is hope that this treatment can slow or even halt the disease's progression, marking a huge step forward in managing the disease.
Shares of Brainstorm Cell Therapeutics traded recently at $4.55, up 5.3 percent.
