GoPro Reveals Meerkat Integration; Stock Continues To Rise
Shares of GoPro Inc (NASDAQ: GPRO) continued to surge following Tuesday's strong earnings report, up nearly 5 percent on Thursday, after Meerkat announced that some GoPro owners will be able to stream video directly from their cameras.
In a recent CNBC article, Julia Boorstin highlighted that this is “the first time Meerkat has extended the ability to broadcast beyond a mobile device.”
GoPro3 owners are now able to connect their cameras to iOS devices and stream live video via Meerkat. GoPro4 owners will also have access to this feature pretty soon, when the app is updated.

As noted by Boorstin, this move is a part of Meerkat's effort to compete with Twitter Inc (NYSE: TWTR)’s Periscope, which enjoys the advantage of being integrated into one of the largest social networks in the world.
Other Meerkat moves in this direction include the recently announced ability to connect Facebook and Meerkat profiles, and the introduction of “Cameo,” a feature that allows one user to briefly transfer his/her streams to another user for a brief moment.
However, it seems that Periscope is winning the race for now.
“Though there are no official user numbers for either services, Adobe's Digital Index, which measures attention on social networks, says that Periscope is more popular than Meerkat,” CNBC added.
