Happy Christmas: The Beatles Are Coming To Streaming Music Services…For Free
Beatles fans are rejoicing Wednesday morning as one of the most iconic music groups in history will make their music available to streaming music services.
According to thebeatles.com, The Beatle's music will be available for streaming worldwide as of 12:01 a.m. local time on December 24.
The music will be available for streaming on nine different streaming music services: Apple Music, Deezer, Google Play, Microsoft Groove, Amazon Prime, Rhapsody, Spotify, Slacker, Tidal.
Of note, Pandora Media Inc (NYSE: P) is not listed as a streaming music partner. However, Re/code pointed out that Pandora "doesn't do direct deals with music owners" and already broadcasts Beatles songs via its Web radio service.
The band first entered the digital music sphere on iTunes back in 2010. CNN pointed out that, "[Apple Corps, the Beatles' business group] long claimed that the reason its music wasn't on iTunes was that digital music was of inferior quality to CDs and records. But legal issues may have also been a factor."
