Facebook's Oculus Rift Price Set At $599, To Ship In March

Shares of Facebook Inc (NASDAQ: FB) were trading higher on Wednesday after the company's CEO, Mark Zuckerberg confirmed Oculus Rift is now available for pre-order.

In a Facebook update, Zuckerberg said that the Oculus Rift device is available for pre-order on shop.oculus.com for $599. He added that shipping of the device will be begin at the end of March to 20 countries initially.

"When you put on Oculus, you'll feel like you instantly teleported into adventures like deep-sea diving, piloting a starfighter or playing in a band on stage," Zuckerberg wrote. "More than 100 virtual reality games and other experiences are coming this year. And long term, I believe virtual reality has the potential to change the way we live, work and communicate in many ways. Today is an important step towards that future."

Shares traded recently at $103.15, up 0.41 percent.
