Ford Exec: 'We Welcome' Apple And Google Into Auto Space

Share:

Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F) is "glad" to see Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) and Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ: GOOG) bring their technological expertise to the automotive space.

"We welcome others joining," Don Butler, Ford's executive director for Connected Vehicles and Services was quoted as saying to Trusted Reviews. "We think it's exciting. It's actually change that we are embracing."

Butler was also quoted as saying that he both Apple and Google "can do it" - a likely reference to the fact that both high tech companies "may be better at software than Ford."

However, the two tech giants lack the mass manufacturing infrastructure for any possible vision they may have which may (or may not) include a fully electric car of their own.
