Second Sight Pops 15%; HBO's 'Vice' To Run Segment On 'Beating Blindness'

Shares of Second Sight Medical Products Inc (NASDAQ: EYES) surged higher by 15 percent on Monday and traded above the $5 per share mark for the first time since early January.

Second Sight is a medical device company that develops implantable visual prosthetics to restore some functional vision to blind patients.

Investors and traders were likely encouraged by the company's announcement on its website that its products will be featured on HBO's VICE Episode 40: "Beating Blindness" which is scheduled for February 26 at 8 p.m. PT.

While HBO's site does not explicitly name Second Sight in its preview, the company's products appears to be visible in a preview for the episode.

A Second Sight spokesperson told Benzinga in an email that the company's Argus II system was mentioned in the episode draft, but added that Second Sight is still awaiting final release from HBO.
