Report: Taiwan Semiconductor's Production Of 16nm Chips To Double In March
According to a report from DigiTimes, Taiwan Semiconductor Mfg. Co. Ltd. (ADR) (NYSE: TSM) could see its monthly output capacity on its 16nm process technology to grow to 80,000 12-inch wafers in March from just 40,000 units in February.
DigiTimes, citing remarks from Taiwan Semiconductor's co-CEO CC Wei, added that the company's share of the 14/16nm foundry market segment will rise above 70 percent in 2016 from around 40 percent in 2015.
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) is reportedly among the company's major 16nm customers, the report also noted.
