Report: EMC To Divest More Than $6 Billion In Assets Ahead Of Dell Combination

Share:

Bloomberg reported after Wednesday's market close that EMC Corporation (NYSE: EMC) has committed to divest more than $6 billion as part of a path towards a combination with Dell Inc.

Bloomberg, citing "people with knowledge of the matter," added that Dell is also looking to divest its Sonicwall and Quest business for $4 billion. Dell has already reached an agreement with Nippon Telegraph & Telephone Corp (ADR) (NYSE: NTT) to sell its Dell Services for around $3 billion.

Dell and EMC are shedding assets to reduce the debt burden they will assume upon completion of the $67 billion merger. Dell has said it will add around $50 billion in debt to finance the deal which is expected to close between June and October.
