What was life like before YouTube?
This was the question posed by Chris Hardwick, host of Comedy Central's game show @Midnight. One of the show's segments, "Hashtag Wars" asked contestants to describe what life was like #BeforeYouTube.
Traders likely remember what life was like #BeforeYouTube, but more importantly, they may be wondering what life would have been like had Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ: GOOG) (NASDAQ: GOOGL) (Google at that time) not acquired the upstart streaming video provider for a measly $1.65 billion back in 2006.
The price tag Google paid appears to be a bargain for the tech company as YouTube was slapped with a valuation as high as $90 billion by analysts at Bank of America.
Other analysts expect YouTube to generate $50 billion in revenue for its parent company in 2025.
