Bill Simmons Apologizes For 'Being A Jackass' After Ripping ESPN Employees

Bill Simmons spilled the beans.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Simmons opened up about his relationship with ESPN boss John Skipper, learning about being fired on Twitter and what he thinks of his former network. One quote in particular caught the attention of many.

"ESPN has now gotten rid of everybody who is a little off the beaten path. Ask yourself this: 'Who could work there that you respect right now?'"

Earlier this afternoon, Simmons was quick to apologize for the remark. In an Instagram post about his former co-workers, Simmons wrote, "They meant a lot to me and still do. So today made me feel bad. My apologies for being a jackass."

Simmons left ESPN last summer. His new media venture, The Ringer, debuted on June 1, 2016. Meanwhile, Walt Disney Co (NYSE: DIS)'s ESPN has been mired in a talent exodus as subscribers continue to dwindle.
