Top Performing Industries For November 11, 2016
At 10:30 am, the Dow fell 0.13 percent to 18,784.28, the broader Standard & Poor's 500 index moved down 0.38 percent to 2,159.16 and the NASDAQ composite index dropped 0.12 percent to 5,202.60.
The industries that are still afloat in the market today are:
- Semiconductor - Specialized: This industry gained 9.5 percent by 10:30 am. The top stock within the industry was NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ: NVDA), which gained 23.8 percent. NVIDIA reported better-than-expected earnings for its third quarter. The company boosted its quarterly dividend by 22 percent and authorized an additional $2 billion in share buyback program.
- Long Distance Carriers: This industry rose 2.4 percent by 10:30 am ET. The top performer in this industry was HC2 Holdings Inc (NYSE: HCHC), which gained 4.3 percent. HC2 Holdings shares have declined 39.89 percent over the past 52 weeks, while the S&P 500 index has gained 4.46 percent in the same period.
- Computer Peripherals: The industry gained 1.9 percent by 10:30 am. The top performer in this industry was Stratasys, Ltd. (NASDAQ: SSYS) which gained 2.3 percent. Stratasys’ PEG ratio is 1.03.
- REIT - Hotel/Motel: This industry moved up 1.6 percent by 10:30 am. The top performer in this industry was Ashford Hospitality Trust, Inc. (NYSE: AHT), which rose 3.2 percent.
