What Life Was Like The Last Time Detroit Red Wings Missed The Stanley Cup Playoffs

For the first time since 1990, the NHL's Detroit Red Wings won't be participating for a chance to hoist Lord Stanley's Cup.

As such, the Pittsburgh Penguins now hold the title for the longest post-season steak at 10 seasons. Ironically enough, Sidney Crosby and the Penguins defeated the Red Wings in its last Stanley Cup finals appearance in the 2008-09 season.

The Wings set a North American pro sports record by reaching the playoffs for 25 consecutive seasons.
