Elon Musk's Twitter Is Revamping Features: What's In And What's Out

Elon Musk's Twitter is once again ramping up features and this time a popular option has been removed. However, an interesting feature is probably making a comeback.

What Happened: Tech tweeter Jane Manchun Wong hinted that "GIF profile picture" might make a comeback.

Twitter banned GIF avatars in 2012. Dick Costolo, Twitter's then-CEO, was apparently not a fan and shut down the feature that allowed users to change their profiles into GIF avatars, according to Buzzfeed. Users who had previously uploaded a GIF avatar were allowed to retain them, but new GIFs couldn't be added.

Meanwhile, Twitter removed the option to create Moments, but users can see already organized posts.

Why It's Important: Since Musk acquired Twitter in October, the microblogging site introduced a series of new features and updates

Musk's decision to monetize the blue verification badge received massive flak. Since Musk announced the relaunch of Twitter Blue, the number of verified-but-fake accounts on the platform has been on the rise. Musk even said that users may see their 'follower' count drop as the platform purges spam and fraudulent accounts.

In November, Musk laid off thousands of employees raising concerns about handling of certain features.
