Trump's 2024 Nomination Ensured If DeSantis, Pence And Haley Take Him On, Says Bill Maher: 'Cults Don't Ever Go Away'
Donald Trump would come out on the top if he is challenged for the Republication presidential nomination by multiple contenders, according to comedian and political commentator Bill Maher.
What Happened: Maher was asked in an interview by CNN”s Jake Tapper if the current challenger South Carolina’s former Governor Nikki Haley and probable contenders former Vice President Mike Pence and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis could take him out.
He said, “No, but what I think they’ll do is ensure him the nomination” — adding, “the only way Trump doesn’t get that nomination is if it's just him and DeSantis.”
“If it’s a bunch of people in there they are going to split the anti-Trump vote because Trump has a very hardcore following — it's a cult.”
Maher emphasized his point by saying, “Cults don’t ever go away.”
Why It Matters: Maher said he despaired about the multiple contenders in 2024 because when “politicians smell the White House they don’t care about the repercussions for the country.”
The television said conservatives opted for Trump because they were scared of the “stuff” occurring on the leftist fringe.
Meanwhile, a new poll featuring a 10-way contest indicates that Trump would emerge victorious over DeSantis in the GOP primary.
