Microsoft's Edge Workspaces Makes Collaboration So Easy That Group Trip Planning Becomes A Breeze

Microsoft Corp.'s (NASDAQ: MSFT) Edge internet browser is launching a limited public preview of the Workspaces feature, allowing users to save and share groups of browser tabs via a single link.

What Happened: Edge Workspaces can help users streamline a task or project in one place versus having to share links with each other back and forth, Microsoft said. 

Through Workspaces, a shared view of web pages and documents can be created in a single browser window, and all changes are updated in real time.

For example, if someone is organizing a trip, they can invite others in the group to access the same pages, share flight and lodging options, and even collaborate on activities and plans by creating a shared document.

Microsoft said it would not disclose any personal information while utilizing a user’s Workspace with others. 

Each user will only see content that they have access to, said Microsoft, adding, “Edge Workspaces will not share browser or confidential account data like logins, cookies, and passwords with anyone else who has access.”

Users need to be signed into their Microsoft account using Microsoft Edge version 111.0.1661.51 (or higher). Workspaces will be available on PC and Mac for starters.

Why It’s Important: Although it may seem similar to Edge’s Collections feature, which enables users to save and arrange web pages, Workspaces also lets users collaborate with colleagues in real time by sharing the saved tabs, which can be modified or appended, according to The Verge.
