'iPhone Saved My Life': Apple's Crash Detection Saves Oregon Driver In A Car Accident

Apple Inc.'s (NASDAQ:AAPL) crash detection feature in iPhones has saved yet another life. This time, an Oregon woman involved in a car crash was rescued by emergency services after her iPhone 14 detected the crash and sent an alert.

What Happened: An Oregon woman's car crashed and fell off the cliff. While the woman was knocked unconscious, her iPhone 14 detected the crash and alerted emergency services, who rescued her, reported Fox 12.

"For some reason I hit the edge of the road and I went straight into a deep part of the hill. When I went down, I must've passed out and the airbags went up," said Ashly, the woman involved in the accident.

Ashly has an iPhone 14, which comes with a crash-detection feature. When the iPhone detected the crash, it automatically sent a "vehicle accident, unknown injury" alert to emergency services, along with the location of the accident.

Ashly was located along with her car 30 feet down a steep embankment. "And then the iPhone really saved my life," she added. “I had SOS and it just automatically turned on."

Ashly escaped with bruises and is recovering.

Not The First Time: Earlier this month, an iPhone crash detection feature saved the life of a man whose car fell a terrifying 400 feet off a cliff in the Mt. Wilson area in California.

The local authorities found him yelling and calling for help nearly 400 feet below the road.

Apple, too, has proactively advertised the feature – earlier this month, the company posted a clip showing a car somersaulting with a dummy in it. The iPhone 14 Pro in the car detected the crash and automatically dialed 911 to alert the authorities.
