Did You Know Threads Allows You To Cross-Post To X? Hashtag Inventor Highlights Link As Musk Vs Zuckerberg Rivalry Heats Up

In a recent development, the creator of hashtags has discovered and shared an intriguing crossover linking X and Threads, adding a fresh dimension to the fast-evolving Elon MuskMark Zuckerberg rivalry.

What Happened: On Monday, Chris Messina, credited with introducing hashtags to the social media dynamics, shared a somewhat not so widely known feature that allows users to send a Threads post to X using the paper airplane icon.

Benzinga also independently verified the feature for iPhone users with both Threads and X app installed.

Last week, Meta Platforms Inc.’s (NASDAQ:META) Threads introduced an array of features: the ability to “Share a Thread to Instagram DMs,” keep track of the liked posts, sort the people users are following on the platform, and add custom alt text on images and videos.

The “Post to X” feature (for some users, it is showing “Tweet”) appears to be part of the same rollout.

Why It’s Important: The feature could have been Zuckerberg’s Threads way to attract a larger audience to the platform by using the popularity of X.

It is pertinent to note that Threads became the fastest-growing consumer application in history after just five days of its launch. However, the app has since witnessed a notable decline in daily active users and app usage time.

Meanwhile, the “cage match” fiasco started in June earlier this year and later intensified when Zuckerberg rolled out Threads, a new social media platform dubbed as “Twitter killer,” has reached an impasse

While Zuckerberg wants to “move on” and does not intend to give more hype to this already much-talked-about match, Musk is consistently posting on X bout knocking on Meta CEO’s door and demanding a fight.
