Apple Reverts A Significant Change For iPhone Users In The Latest iOS 17 Beta Update

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has reverted a significant change it had made for iPhone users earlier. The revert is rolling out as a part of the latest iOS 17 update.

What Happened: Apple's latest iOS 17 developer beta 6 is rolling back a significant change in the call screen design – the position of the "End Call" button has been changed from the lower right corner to the center.

Earlier last week, Apple moved the "End Call" button to the bottom right position, challenging the muscle memory of iPhone users. This button is in the bottom center position in iOS 16, but all the other buttons are in the middle part of the display.

Within a week, however, Apple has brought the "End Call" button back to its center position. Other buttons like Audio, FaceTime, Mute, Add, and Keypad surround the End Call button.

While this might seem like Apple is undecided about the "End Call" button's position, it suggests that the company wants to retain familiarity for iPhone users who are used to the button being in this position. However, they will still have to get used to the five other buttons surrounding it now.

It's worth noting that given that this is a developer beta, the user interface design is not final yet. Apple could make a few more changes or retain the existing design, but this will become certain once the iOS 17 update rolls out to the public.

iOS 17 Developer Beta 6 Changes: With the final release of iOS 17 just a few weeks away, Apple is now refining the features in developer betas instead of adding new features or making major changes.

For instance, the Mood Tracking feature has seen a refinement in animations and slight tweaks. The Photos app now has a splash screen that lists the new features. Lastly, Apple has updated the wallpaper icon to an iOS 17 wallpaper.

The iOS 17 update is expected to be announced in September, shortly after Apple launches the iPhone 15 series.
