Verse Raises $5.75M To Boost Clean Energy With AI

Generative artificial intelligence (AI) startups are garnering a lot of attention. The same holds true of clean energy companies. So, when you combine the two, there's potential for good things to happen. And that's where Verse comes into play.

San Francisco-based Verse Inc. uses generative AI to help companies unlock the benefits of clean power. The company recently secured $5.75 million in seed funding in a round led by Coatue with participation from Collaborative Fund, Firstminute Capital, Future Positive and Twine Ventures.

How Will Verse Use The Funds?

The investment will provide Verse with the necessary resources to assist organizations in acquiring, managing and reporting on carbon-free energy assets in a more rapid and cost-efficient manner than currently possible.

"We're incredibly grateful to Coatue for leading this round and to all our investors for supporting our efforts to help companies reduce their carbon emissions," Verse CEO Seyed Madaeni said. "This funding enables us to further our mission of unlocking the benefits of clean power for organizations everywhere.

"We are also very excited to have signed our first commercial contracts, including with an industry leader like Climeworks. Clean power procurement will be a strategic imperative for every sector, and we look forward to helping Climeworks and other companies reduce the cost and complexity of buying and managing clean power."

Is Aria A Game-Changer?

Verse was established by Madaeni and Matt Penfold, who previously occupied leadership positions at Fluence Energy Inc. The startup recently introduced Aria, an enterprise-level platform designed for purchasing and managing clean energy, aiming to address the challenges associated with transitioning to clean energy.

Aria uses generative AI to enable organizations to establish their clean power objectives, develop and obtain a range of clean energy assets, oversee these assets and provide performance reports. This will give companies the ability to lower costs, mitigate risks associated with energy procurement and hasten transactions, promoting faster and larger-scale adoption of clean energy within organizations.

Through Aria, companies can achieve their financial objectives and meet their targets for emissions reduction.

When a company intersects two high-growth industries — in this case, AI and clean energy — the potential for big things to happen is much greater. With this funding round, Verse is moving in the right direction.
