Mitt Romney's Upcoming Book Stirs Concern Among GOP Over Trump Views
Sen. Mitt Romney’s (R-UT) upcoming book detailing his views on ex-President Donald Trump has stirred anxiety among GOP politicians, the New York Times reported.
Romney, who has announced he will not seek a second term in the Senate, will release his book “Romney: A Reckoning” in October 2023. It is believed that Romney has disclosed how some GOP colleagues really feel about Trump in his book
The biography threatens to attribute comments to GOP lawmakers who privately criticized Trump while publicly praising him. The book’s release, just before the voting for the 2024 GOP presidential primaries, could impact the nomination.
Written by The Atlantic staff writer McKay Coppins, the book draws from extensive interviews with Romney. Coppins was given access to Romney’s emails and personal diary, lending credibility to the insights.
Romney, a former GOP presidential nominee, has never hesitated to voice his opinion on Trump. In a Wall Street Journal op-ed, he called for Republicans to move away from Trump’s legacy and find a nominee with “character.”
