Google Pixel 8 Gets Unboxed Days Ahead Of Launch: Here's A First Look At Its Rounded Design

The Google Pixel 8 launch is around the corner. Now, an early unboxing video gives us the first high-quality glimpse at the design of the Pixel 8 and what we can expect from Google on Oct. 4.

What Happened: The Pixel 8 unboxing video shows off the rounded back design along with the display. This is the first unboxing video of Alphabet Inc.'s (NASDAQ:GOOG) (NASDAQ:GOOGL) Google's upcoming smartphone.

While rumors and prior leaks pointed at a rounded-back design, this is the first glimpse at the Pixel 8 in the flesh. While the broad design language has not changed much, the phone looks more rounded, and the camera module is slightly higher than the Pixel 7.

Another leak shared by tipster Vật Vờ Studio also showed off the rumored unified camera visor design of the Pixel 8 Pro, which is the only major design change compared to its predecessor.

Pixel 8 And Pixel 8 Pro Features: The Pixel 8 series is expected to be powered by the Tensor G3 chipset, an update to the Tensor G2 chipset that powered the Pixel 7 series.

While the Pixel 8 Pro is expected to sport the same 120Hz refresh rate display, the technology is said to be LTPO, which supports a 1-120Hz refresh rate. This will decrease the refresh rate to 1Hz when the phone is locked, thereby helping save battery.

On the other hand, the Pixel 8 is said to get an upgrade – instead of the 90Hz refresh rate like the Pixel 7, the Pixel 8 is expected to support a 120Hz refresh rate.

The other major upgrade is expected to be in the camera department – Google is expected to use a new 50MP ultrawide angle camera sensor in the Pixel 8 Pro, up from the 12MP resolution of the Pixel 7 Pro. The primary sensor is said to be upgraded to GN2 from Pixel 7 Pro's GN1, which can capture up to 35% more light.
