Elon Musk Hails Marques Brownlee's 'Great Product Reviews,' But He Should Worry About Other Tech Influencers Leaving X

On Friday, Elon Musk commended tech YouTuber Marques Brownlee for his “great product reviews.” However, he should probably look closer at other tech influencers on X (formerly Twitter) who are increasingly planning to migrate to alternative platforms like Mark Zuckerberg’s Threads. 

What Happened: Brownlee took to X and shared his insights on Google’s Pixel 8 software promise. He said that Google’s commitment to provide seven years of OS security and feature drop updates is unprecedented. However, the company also has a long history of discontinuing products and services and leaving consumers in the lurch.

Brownlee pointed out that even relying on a tech giant like Google has its drawbacks, as they may abruptly terminate products that seem insignificant to them.

When an X user praised the platform’s full videos feature, stating that they “love to see more full videos” on the microblogging site, especially from “my favorite creators,” Musk responded, saying, “Marques has great product reviews.”

Why It’s Important: However, it appears that not all is well with X. This includes the tech billionaire’s chaotic decisions to eliminate third-party apps, increase advertisements, and devalue the blue checkmark, which has triggered discontent among many users.

Previously, it was reported that several tech influencers, including Michael Fisher and social media commentator Matt Navarra, have voiced their concerns and are considering leaving the platform. 

Fisher expressed his reluctance to leave X but admitted to enjoying tech discussions on Threads, hinting at a possible shift if the issues persist. Navarra, on the other hand, has already decided to go “all-in” on Threads, citing better interactions and reach on the platform. 

Navarra has also edited his name on the platform and changed it to “Matt Navarra – Exiting X… Follow me on Threads.”
