Elon Musk Criticizes Iranian Supreme Leader's Praise Of Hamas Attack On Israel: 'Stoking The Fires Of Hatred Isn't Working'

In a recent development, tech entrepreneur Elon Musk has responded to a social media post by Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei that applauded a Hamas attack on Israel.

What Happened: According to a report by The Hill, Musk took issue with Khamenei’s tweet that celebrated a violent assault on Israel, remarking that it revealed Iran’s ambition to annihilate Israel. Musk’s comments were made on X, the rebranded version of Twitter.

Musk argued that Khamenei’s position only fuels the cycle of retribution and violence and suggested an alternative approach. Musk responded to the post portraying the murder of Israeli concert attendees, with Khamenei expressing his desire for the “eradication” of the Zionist regime.

“All that actually happens, decade after decade, is a never-ending cycle of violence and vengeance. Stoking the fires of hatred isn't working. Perhaps it is time to consider something else,"

The Israeli NGO, ZAKA, reported 260 deaths at the music festival, which was organized to commemorate the Jewish festival of Sukkot. There were also reports of kidnappings.

Despite violating X’s guidelines, Khamenei’s post was left accessible due to public interest. Previously, Musk had reversed certain speech rules on the platform, including unblocking accounts labeled antisemitic by the Anti-Defamation League.

Why It Matters: This incident comes following an unprecedented attack by Hamas on Israel, which triggered severe clashes and put the nation under siege. The assault involved a large-scale rocket barrage and multiple infiltrations, marking a significant escalation in Hamas’ capabilities.

Previously, Musk’s company SpaceX had activated approximately 100 Starlink internet terminals in Iran in response to the government’s internet blockade during nationwide protests.
