New York Attorney General Approves Pause On Cancellation Of Trump's Business Certificates In New York Fraud Trial

The New York Attorney General (AG) has agreed to a court-ordered pause on canceling former president Donald Trump‘s business certificates.

According to a report by ABC News, New York AG Letitia James said she would agree to “stay enforcement … pending the end of trial and entry of final judgment.” However, she argued against other parts of Trump’s appeal, including delaying the trial.

Trump, along with his sons Eric and Don Jr., and executives from the Trump Organization are facing a $250 million lawsuit over allegations of a decade-long scheme to inflate Trump’s net worth to secure favorable loan terms.

James believes that abruptly halting the trial would result in chaos and an inordinate waste of both public resources and the resources of witnesses. She also asserted that any delay could lead to a cascade of delays in other pending criminal and civil cases against Trump.

Trump’s legal team is expected to submit their reply by Nov. 9. The former Trump Organization CFO Allen Weisselberg has been accused of providing misleading information about Trump’s assets.

Testimonies from insurance underwriter Claudia Mouradian and former CFO Weisselberg suggest that the Trump Organization did not use outside appraisers to value properties, contradicting what Weisselberg had previously claimed.

Further testimonies are expected over the coming days, with Donald Trump Jr. set to begin his testimony on Wednesday. Ivanka Trump is now scheduled to testify on Wednesday, Nov. 8, following a scheduling conflict.
