Mack Trucks Workers Vote 93% In Favor Of New Contract With Volvo, Ending 39-Day UAW Strike

The United Auto Workers union (UAW) on Wednesday said that a majority of its workers have voted in favor of ratification of their new contract with Volvo Group-owned (OTCPK: VLVLY) truck maker Mack Trucks.

What Happened: “After 39 days on strike, UAW members at Mack Trucks have voted by 93% to ratify their new contract with significant local improvements,” the union wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

Why It Matters: More than 4000 UAW members commenced a strike against Mack Trucks last month on Oct. 7 after they voted down their first tentative agreement.

The strike at Mack Trucks followed on the heels of UAW’s consecutive strike against the Detroit three automakers. However, the union has yet to ratify the new agreements with the Detroit Three.
