'Marjorie Taylor Greene Doesn't Exist In The Same Reality,' Jason Crow Slams GOP Congresswoman For Jan. 6 Remarks In Her Upcoming Book

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) made contentious claims about the Democrats’ actions during the Jan. 6 Capitol riots. These claims, however, have been strongly refuted by her fellow representatives who have labeled them as ‘patently false’.

What Happened: In ‘MTG,’ Greene’s book due to be published next week, she asserts that no Democrats remained in the House chamber during the riot to help defend it, The Guardian reported.

"Several of the Republican congressmen said, ‘We're going to stay right here and defend the House chamber.' As they began barricading the door with furniture, I noticed not one Democrat was willing to stay to defend the chamber," Greene writes in her book.

Why It Matters: The Georgian Republican’s claim is in stark contrast with the account given by former U.S. Army ranger and Rep. Jason Crow (D-Colo.), who states that he was the last politician to exit the chamber

Crow narrates how he assisted other representatives in donning emergency masks and waited until everyone had evacuated before he left. Crow told the publication, “Marjorie Taylor Greene doesn't exist in the same reality as the rest of us. For those of us who were there on January 6 and actually defended the chamber from violent insurrectionists, her view is patently false.”

Similarly, Rep. Raúl Grijalva (D-Ariz.) and Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-Ariz.) have recounted their efforts in aiding the evacuation and ensuring the safety of their fellow representatives during the riots. These narratives starkly contrast Greene’s account.

Despite the controversies and disputes over her recollections, Greene’s book, which also includes criticisms targeted at Democrats, the media, and fellow Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.), promises to provide a unique viewpoint on the events of Jan. 6.
