Both Cruise Co-Founders Resign Amid Safety Concerns, Suspension of Operations

Cruise co-founder and chief product officer Dan Kan has stepped down from General Motors Co‘s (NYSE:GM) autonomous driving subsidiary on the heels of former CEO Kyle Vogt.

What Happened: Reuters first reported that Kan had stepped down citing a Slack message seen by the news agency. A Cruise spokesperson later confirmed the resignation via e-mail to Benzinga without providing further details.

Kan’s resignation comes a day after the resignation of the company’s former CEO. Vogt, too, offered little reason for his departure. Kan and Vogt founded Cruise together in 2013.

Why It Matters: Cruise has been embroiled in safety concerns after one of its AVs got involved in an accident in early October. It has presently paused both autonomous and manual AV operations in the United States.
