US, China Urge Restraint As Tensions Rise Between Pakistan And Iran

Following a series of missile strikes between Pakistan and Iran, the United States and China have urged both nations to exercise restraint. The situation has escalated amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict.

What Happened: The U.S. and China have called on Pakistan and Iran to de-escalate the situation following a series of missile strikes, reported Bloomberg on Friday. Both countries have shown signs of not wanting the situation to escalate further.

The U.S., China, and other nations have urged both countries to prevent the situation from worsening, particularly in light of the escalating Middle East tensions due to the Israel-Hamas conflict.

China, a significant economic and military ally of both Pakistan and Iran, has been closely monitoring the situation and has urged both countries to avoid further escalation.

Antonio Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, has also called on both nations to resolve their security issues peacefully. The porous border between Pakistan and Iran is dominated by militant groups, including Jaish al-Adl, which has launched multiple attacks on Iranian security forces.

Why It Matters: The recent escalation between Pakistan and Iran follows a series of events. Pakistan accused Iran of violating its airspace and causing the deaths of two children. This accusation came after Iran’s missile strikes on two bases of the militant group Jaish al Adl. In retaliation, Pakistan conducted airstrikes within Iranian territory, killing at least seven people.
