China Slams US Over SpaceX's Alleged Development Of Spy Satellites: '...Not Help A Villain Do Evil'
In a recent escalation of tensions between global superpowers, China has publicly denounced the United States following a report that Elon Musk‘s SpaceX is developing espionage technology for American intelligence.
What Happened: After reports of SpaceX creating spy satellites for a U.S. intelligence agency, China’s military and state media have condemned the U.S., claiming a threat to global security, Reuters reported on Monday.
The Chinese military, through a social media account, criticized the U.S. for its “shamelessness and double standards,” while a state-controlled newspaper interview suggested the project could escalate global tensions.
The PLA-affiliated social media account, Junzhengping, with over a million followers, called for vigilance against the U.S. government’s actions. “We urge U.S. companies to not help a villain do evil.”
Meanwhile, Wang Yanan, chief editor at Aerospace Knowledge, expressed concerns in The Global Times about the potential for increased sensitivity or escalation of international issues due to U.S. intelligence activities.

SpaceX has reportedly been working on a significant satellite network for the NRO since 2021, emphasizing the growing collaboration between the private sector and U.S. national security agencies.
