Ford Reduces Costs Of Hands-Free Driving Technology, BlueCruise, In US: Now Also Available As A One-Time Purchase

Dearborn-based Ford Motor Co (NYSE:F) on Tuesday reduced the price of its BlueCruise driver assistance technology which provides drivers of certain vehicles the liberty to drive hands-free in specific regions.

What Happened: BlueCruise will now be available as a one-year plan and as a one-time purchase option for model year 2025 vehicles in the U.S., Ford said.

The one-year plan will either be included as a standard or as an option depending on which vehicle the customer opts for. If not available as standard, customers can get it at the time of vehicle order for $495.

Customers can also make a one-time purchase of the technology for $2,465 on select 2025 model-year vehicles.

For existing customers, BlueCruise costs starting from Oct. 1 will be $49.99 monthly (down from $75) or $495 annually (down from $800).

Why It Matters: BlueCruise technology is now available on Ford Explorer, Ford Expedition, Ford F-150, F-150 Lightning, and Mustang Mach-E in the U.S.

BlueCruise availability will expand across 2025 model year vehicles and trims to give more customers who want an electric, hybrid, or gas-powered Ford vehicle access to hands-free highway driving, the company said on Tuesday.

According to Ford, there are currently over 492,000 BlueCruise-equipped vehicles on the road around the world.
