iPhone Coming to China Mobile? Reports Say Yes
Apple is reportedly teaming with China Mobile for a deal that could expose the iPhone to 600M people.
Forbes has published an interesting story this morning that indicates the iPhone will soon be available to China Mobile (NYSE: CHL) subscribers. If true, this would give Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) the opportunity to reach an additional 600 million subscribers.
The phone, which will come in the CDMA variety to meet the needs of China Mobile's service, could be marketed as a lower cost pre-paid version of the iPhone we know and love. According to Forbes, more than 90% of China's cellular market uses pre-paid phones.
While nothing has been confirmed, the iPhone is expected to hit China Mobile as early as October (around the same time that the iPhone 5 is scheduled to launch in the United States), or as late as early 2012.
