David Einhorn, Whitney Tilson and Barry Rosenstein Headline the Eighth Annual Value Investing Congress

The popular two-day conference returns to New York in October, giving serious investors and money managers the opportunity to network with some of the world's most prolific investors.

Last year, attendees of the seventh annual Value Investing Congress learned how to:

  • Assess intrinsic value to invest with a large margin of safety
  • Appraise management's capital allocation decisions
  • Avoid costly mistakes most investors make
  • Differentiate a true competitive moat from a short term advantage
  • Detect "hidden" red flags in financial statements
  • Identify profitable shorts
  • Uncover value in international markets
  • Identify opportunities for activist investing to catalyze value
  • Make behavioral finance work for you
  • Use long-dated call options (LEAPs) as an investment tool
  • Analyze and realistically value distressed debt

Attendees of this year's Value Investing Congress will receive expert advice from David Einhorn, President of Greenlight Capital. Noted for being both a successful hedge fund manager and a skilled poker player, Einhorn is one of the most outspoken men in finance. He moved the market last year when he shared his opinion of Green Mountain Coffee Roasters (NASDAQ: GMCR). After Einhorn stated that the Keurig single-cup brewers had a "limited" market, Green Mountain's shares fell 10 percent.

Value Investing Congress attendees will also get to hear from T2 Partners founder and Managing Partner Whitney Tilson, along with Barry Rosenstein, the founder and Managing Partner of JANA Partners.

Other speakers include Bob Robotti, founder and CIO of Robotti & Company Advisors; Guy Gottfried, founder and manager of Rational Investment Group; Alexander Roepers, President of Atlantic Investment Management; Kian Ghazi, founder, Managing Partner and Portfolio Manager of Hawkshaw Capital Management; and Glenn Tongue, Managing Partner of T2 Partners.

Those who have attended the Value Investing Congress have nothing but praise for the annual conference.

"When I attend the Value Investing Congress, I know that I will go home with a ton of great ideas and some new ways of viewing value investing," said Nicholas Bertell, a financial advisor at Redwood Coast Financial Partners, who was quoted on Value Investing Congress' website. "It is a huge advantage to be here in person and get your questions answered by the world's greatest investors."

Allen Benello of White River Partners concurs, stating "If you get one usable idea it can pay off handsomely and pay for conferences for the next 20 years."

"You really have access to the Masters of the Universe with their best ideas – there is no better," added RBC Dominion Securities' Kim Gladwish.

The eighth annual Value Investing Congress is scheduled to take place on October 1 and 2 at the Marriot Marquis in Times Square. Those who register by July 19 at ValueInvestingCongress.com/Benzinga and use discount code N12BZ4 can save $1,700 off the price of admission.
