TechCrunch Leaks Turntable.fm iPhone App

Share:

According to TechCrunch, music social network Turntable.fm is expected to go mobile next week with its own Apple iOS app.

Turntable.fm allows its users to upload songs and play music from the site's database in virtual rooms where they act as DJs. Only five DJs can spin in a room, but other users can listen and comment on the music.

The mobile application, developed by a single teenage iOS developer has been in testing stages for the past few weeks. The final glitch: solidifying WiFi connections over a 3G network. However, the essence of the application has been maintained for mobile devices.

Billy Chasen planned to announce the mobile app at Disrupt, next week, and posted a comment on the TechCrunch article that scooped his surprise.

Turntable.fm is an exclusive social network that holds strong ties to Facebook. In order to use the app, you must have a Facebook friend who has access to it. No word yet on whether the mobile app will keep the same requirements nor if Google (NASDAQ: GOOG) Android will receive a version of the app.
