Gordon Hayward Signs Deal to Become IGN's New Spokesman

The Utah Jazz star has a new gig lined up.

CNBC sports business reporter Darren Rovell reports that Gordon Hayward has signed a deal with IGN to become a spokesman for the company.

“Gordon Hayward signs deal to be spokesman for video game media publishing giant IGN, which will be launching a pro league,” Rovell, who is also the host of the Versus show Sports Biz: Game On, tweeted this morning.

No other details have been revealed, but it is worth noting that IGN (a News Corp. (NYSE: NWSA) property) has already invested heavily in pro league entertainment. Could Hayward's signing lead to an expansion of IGN's efforts? Or is a new league of some kind – perhaps one not specifically tied to turning video games into a spectator sport – be on the way?
