Pokémon Go Plus Wristbands Are A Hot Commodity; Resale Prices Seen At $250
Investors and traders are fully aware that Nintendo Co., Ltd (ADR) (OTC: NTDOY) has a winner in its new Pokémon Go game. The success of the augmented reality mobile game has resulted in a shortage of the game's $35 wrist-worn accessory called the Pokémon Go Plus.
The wearable wristband notifies users of nearby Pokémon characters that can be collected. The device vibrates and a user can tap a button on the wearable to throw a Poké ball and catch a Pokémon lurking nearby.
The game itself does not send push notifications to a user's locked screen, and the only way to be notified of a Pokémon's appearance is to make use of the battery saver mode and leave the app running.
According to Mac Rumors, the Pokémon game-related accessory is sold at various retailers including GameStop Corp. (NYSE: GME) and Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN).
The wearable could be bought on eBay Inc (NASDAQ: EBAY), but sellers are asking for anywhere from $100 to $250 per unit.
Shares of Nintendo's ADR-listed issue were trading higher by more than 1 percent at $28.02 while the Tokyo-listed issue gained 12.73 percent to close at 22,840.00 yen during the Asian trading session.
