Barton Biggs Going Long Japan, Should You? (EWJ)

Share:

An article in the Wall Street Journal shows that Barton Biggs is starting to buy Japan now.

Biggs runs $1.4 billion hedge fund Traxis Partners LP, and spoke to the Journal and said he was going long Japan. "I'm buying Japan right now," Mr. Biggs said in an interview.

Biggs said that he started buying shares in Japanese names this morning, as he believes the Japanese economy will prove more resilient than many believe.

"They'll sell Treasurys and rebuild, they can finance it because it's a country of savers," he says. "They'll have to rebuild Japan and the rebuilding will give a boost to the economy."

Shares of iShares MSCI Japan Index ETF (NYSE: EWJ) shares are off 7 cents to $9.98, a loss of 0.65% today.
