Carl Ichan "Destroyed Both Yahoo and Motorola"

Carl Ichan may be regarded as a brilliant investor, but don't tell Global Equities Research that.

Trip Chowdhry, the Managing Director of Equity Research, has sent out a note responding to Ichan's advice for Motorola Mobility Holdings (NYSE: MMI).

“Carl Ichan has destroyed both Yahoo (NASDAQ: YHOO) and Motorola,” Chowdhry said, adding that both companies are much worse off than they were before. “Companies like Apple (NASDAQ: APPL), Oracle (NASDAQ: ORCL), [and] Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) are acquiring patents, and iChan is saying MMI should get rid of its patents. He is totally clueless...As we have said before...iChan does not understand the Technology Velocity.”

For the record, the “iChan” spelling of his last name was not a typing error – Chowdhry is intentionally calling him that.

“MMI should use patents as a strategic weapon against Chinese manufacturing,” Chowdhry concludes, “as we mentioned in our April 25th report.”
