2 Pros Discuss Potential Changes To Apple Music
According to market reports, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) is set to implement "sweeping changes" to its music streaming service.
Few details are yet known, but Jessica Lessin of The Information and Mike Isaac, a tech reporter for the New York Times shared their views on CNBC's "Squawk Alley."
Lessin noted that Apple has dedicated a lot of resources in terms of marketing and star power towards its music streaming service and it is "important" to implement some changes.
"The thing that I want to see is better integration with iTunes," she said. "When it comes to the experience, Apple Music as a separate app that isn't integrated fully into iTunes – that is where it falls short for me."
Lessin added that she hopes Apple makes these necessary changes to remove the "barrier" between iTunes and Apple Music.
Isaac jumped in and pointed out that Apple has brought in Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor to work on potential updates to the streaming music platform. This implies that Apple "means business."
Isaac added that he uses Spotify, and has yet to find a "compelling" reason to switch to Apple Music. He expanded that as a whole there isn't much difference between the two music platforms and Apple needs to find a "killer feature" to differentiate themselves.
"Otherwise they are just another Rdio or Grooveshark," he concluded.
