Weight Watchers Announces Subscription-Based Apple Watch Payment Plan; Morgan Stanley Downgrades
On Thursday, Weight Watchers International, Inc. (NYSE: WTW) announced its latest venture, and it seems like Oprah Winfrey’s stake in the company is having some influence. Clients will get some “swag” with a membership plan.
Apple Watches For You And You And You! At A Price...
With a purchase of an OnlinePlus membership, clients will have the option of signing up for the Weight Watchers Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) watch subscription plan to purchase an Apple Watch Series 2. It does, however, come with a price tag. The base OnlinePlus subscription plan costs at least $3.30 per week, and if clients want to enroll in the Apple watch subscription plan, they’ll need to shell out $99.95 up front and 12 monthly payments of $34.95, bringing the total to $519.90 for the watch alone.
Morgan Stanley Downgrades
Following the announcement, Morgan Stanley downgraded the stock from Equal Weight to Underweight and cut its price target to $8 from $12. The stock responded to the downgrade, and the stock opened down over 5 percent.
At last check, shares were trading down 6.92 percent at $10.04.
