Dow Plunging, VIX Spiking (DJI, VIX)
The CBOE Market Volatility Index (VIX) is surging today as investors dump equities and flee to anything safe. The catalysts for today's selling were a disappointing May jobs report and fears of another debt crisis, this time in Hungary.
The VIX, or fear guage, is up 5.28 points, or 17.92 percent, to 34.74. The Dow is currently off 308 points, or 3.01 percent, to 9,946.
