Ubisoft Delays XDefiant Release Indefinitely: Call Of Duty-Style Game Faces Ongoing Challenges

Ubisoft Entertainment SA (OTC: UBSFF) has decided to indefinitely delay the release of XDefiant, a first-person shooter often likened to Activision Blizzard Inc's (NASDAQ: ATVI) Call of Duty, due to a series of persistent issues.

The problems began when the game failed console quality control tests, causing an initial delay.

Subsequently, during public test sessions conducted in late September, Ubisoft identified inconsistencies in the game experience, which led to another delay, this time for the game's preseason.

"[The Public Test Session] surfaced some inconsistencies in the game experience that we need to address prior to launching our Preseason," XDefiant's official account on X (previously Twitter) shared.

"So we've made the tough decision to delay the Preseason of XDefiant," it added.

This preseason was expected to introduce new maps, weapons and faction teams originating from other Ubisoft universes.

While the developer has not provided a specific new release date, it has expressed a commitment to resolving these issues.

"The team will continue working to address these issues and testing them to make sure we deliver on our goal of being a best-in-class arcade shooter," the developer wrote.
