Did Dr. Fauci Secretly Influence CIA Investigation Into Covid-19 Origins? New Allegations Point To 'Mounting Evidence' Of A Cover-Up

The Republican chairman of the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic (SSCP) claims former chief White House medical adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci secretly visited the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) headquarters to influence investigations into the origins of Covid-19.

What To Know: SSCP chairman Brad Wenstrup (R-OH) has alleged in a new press release that Fauci secretly entered the CIA headquarters to "influence" the agency's Covid-19 origins investigation.

Wenstrup claims that Fauci pushed a particular narrative in an attempt to falsify the lab leak theory.

"Dr. Fauci, 'prompted' the drafting of 'Proximal Origin' — the infamous paper that was used to attempt to "'disprove' the lab leak theory," the release states.

Wenstrup is seeking documents and communications related to Fauci's alleged secret entry into the CIA headquarters and influence on the investigation. He noted that there is "mounting evidence" that government officials covered up the origins of Covid-19

"Our goal is to ensure the scientific investigative process regarding the origins of COVID-19 was fair, impartial, and free of alternative influence," Wenstrup said.

Health and Human Services (HHS) and the CIA commented on the allegations in emailed responses to Newsweek

"This allegation is the latest distraction put forth by House Republicans after months wasting taxpayer dollars on seemingly endless conspiracy theories, all while failing to produce any new evidence related to the origins of COVID-19," a spokesperson for HHS reportedly said.

A CIA spokesperson also responded, saying, "We don't discuss specific meetings, but we routinely engage with experts from inside and outside the government as part of our analytic process."
