Aflac (AFL) Shares Rise Along With Its Profits

Aflac Inc. (NYSE: AFL) reported late Tuesday that its 4th quarter net income climbed to $251 million, or 53 cents per share, up from $197 million, or 42 cents per share during the same period a year earlier.

When net realized investment gains and losses are included, Aflac earned $558 million, or $1.18 per share, up from $458 million, or 98 cents per share during the same period a year earlier.

According to analysts polled by Thomson Reuters, the average forecast showed Aflac earning $1.15 per share.

After rising 1% during the trading day, shares of Aflac were still rising in after hours trading.
