Honda (HMC) Passes Toyota (TM), Tops U.S. Auto Sales
Honda Motor Co. (NYSE: HMC) has benefited from the Toyota Motor Corporation (NYSE: TM) recall debacle by becoming the number one selling car brand in the U.S., according to a survey by TrueCar.com.
Honda's market share climbeD to 13% over the last month. Toyota's market share collapsed from 17.5% to 12.1%. The Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F) Blue Oval brand was third, with 11.7% market share.
Toyota President Akio Toyoda did an about-face and decided to face the U.S. Congress next week, as it looks into safety issues at Toyota that led to the automakers massive recall of over 8 million vehicles.
