Gold futures moved down after reaching $1,315 previously in the day. Gold for December delivery fell $0.30 to $1,308 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX). Silver maintained its 30-year high, with its December contract moving up $0.08 to $21.79 an ounce.
Shares of Jabil Circuit Inc (NYSE: JBL) gained about 4.2% after Needham & Co analyst Sean Hannan upgraded the company from “buy” to “strong buy.” Hannan has not changed his price target of $23 on the stock. The upgrade in rating was based on strong Q4 earnings and revenue performance.
European stocks fell as Hennes & Mauritz reported weaker-than-expected Q3 earnings. Shares of Hennes & Mauritz dipped about 6.45% following the results. The Stoxx Europe 600 index lost about 0.57%.
Shares of American Greetings (NYSE: AM) tumbled about 9% after the company reported a 63% y/y fall in its Q2 net income. The company's sales also declined 4% y/y to $333 million.
