Monday's USDA hog slaughter was 373,000 head versus a year ago at 340,000 head.

October Lean Hogs were trading at 65.40, up 1.67. December Lean Hogs were trading at 61.92, up 1.47.

Market chatter about better pork cutout prices was persistent throughout the trading session. Spillover buying from cattle was supportive.
